Solway Farms

In Eastview, Ky. sits a small, family owned farm dedicated to raising fresh greens and other produce for the local community.

Solway farms, named after a nearby historical landmark, only started in 2019 with a greenhouse, but the family hopes to continuously expand as the demand for their products rises.

The owners of Solway try to practice sustainable and soil friendly growing methods while giving their kids an opportunity to grow up in a farm setting. The farm focuses on raising leafy green vegetables and a few other things like beets and onions, and they also have a small herd of cattle.

The farm’s products can be purchased at the Hardin County Farmers market, or you can buy online and get produce delivered directly to you.

Fallen Maple Farm

Fallen Maple Farm is located just outside Elizabethtown and has been operated by the Thomas family since 2004. Fallen Maple Farm prides itself on not focusing on just one crop, but diversifying and offering a wide variety of products. Items they offer throughout the season are vegetables, flowers, plants, canned goods, soaps, cosmetics, grains, eggs, and more. They sell their goods at local farmers markets, specifically the Hardin County Farmers Market, Meade County Farmers Market, and Bardstown Farmers Market. In 2020, the farm began taking online orders.

“This has been a great asset to our farm and to customers who want to buy ahead or just want to see what we have available before making a trip to the market.”

Modern Heritage Farm

Modern Heritage Farm a small-scale vegetable, fruit, and livestock farm located in Glendale, KY. Their mission is to grow organic, nutrient-dense food that improves the health of everyone they have the honor of serving and the land they have the privilege of stewarding. They farm on a human-scale using low-tech methods and partner with nature in creating healthy soil biology. Farmers John and Jessica accomplish this by using organic, regenerative, and biodynamic land stewardship practices. They believe healthy soil = healthy plants = healthy people.

The farm offers a weekly produce CSA share of 7-10 in-season items. Learn more about all of these CSA offerings here, https://www.localharvest.org/modern-heritage-farm-M75902

Wilmoth Family Farms

Wilmoth Family Farms is located in the beautiful city of Cecilia. They are currently raising the 6th generation of Wilmoth farmers. Most of the farm is used for traditional row crops (soybeans, corn, wheat and occasionally rye and barley) and they also raise Angus beef cattle, vegetables and other livestock such as pigs, chickens, and lamb. People can visit the farm and store. They offer U-pick fruit and vegetables that are in season, a petting zoo, jump pad, and pony rides..
Wilmoth Family Farms are extremely passionate about bridging the gap between farm and food. They offer local produce and meat that’s affordable, and they teach folks where their food comes, what the process is, about the dairy, produce and meat industry and what all goes into food production, if they so choose to learn. We do what we are able to do to teach the public with farm to school field trips, free public bottle feedings and kids coming to volunteer on the farm some days. Check out their website for more info! www.wilmothfarms.com
