Luttrell Farms

Ray Luttrell was a great baseball player, but he knew he wanted to farm. After he played minor league baseball in Florida, Ray made his way back to Kentucky with his bride, Hettie, and they purchased a 120-acre farm in Ohio County in 1946. 

Their son, Bobby, went to college to become a school teacher, but then he decided to come back to the farm as well.

Darren Luttrell, the third generation on this land, always knew he wanted to farm and has made it his living since he was 15 years old. Forty years later, he still enjoys the farming life very much.  

Darren raises corn, soybeans, and commercial chickens for Perdue Farms. You may have seen the Perdue label on chicken at your grocery store. Darren said he is also going to start growing rapeseed for Perdue chicken feed. 

Not only does Darren enjoy farming, he loves teaching young people about agriculture. He and his wife Debbie have hosted an annual Agriculture Day on their farm for the past 23 years.
