2023 TeachKyAg Annual Report
Below you will find a snapshot of our impact and how we accomplished our goal of growing ag literacy across the Bluegrass! We estimate that more than 417,000 impressions were made this past year through our programs and resources. Total impressions were down due to fewer social media posts, but student interactions increased by 30%!
Program Highlights
Student Programs
KyAEC supports the KDA Mobile Science Activity, the Kentucky Agriculture Poster and Essay Contest, the Feeding Kentucky Agriculture Adventure Program, and EngAGe Kentucky. We also partner with the Southland Dairy Farmers Mobile Dairy Classroom. School program requests continue to grow following the COVID impact. With our staff and network of Kentucky FFA members, extension and conservation district professionals, and farm volunteers, our programs reached nearly 100,000 students across the Commonwealth in 2023.
Educator Workshops, Events, and Resource Distribution
KyAEC served more than 926 teachers and educators by providing workshops and student resources across the Commonwealth. This would not be possible without our partners and sponsors. Events included two Kentucky 4-H Agents Workshops, the Kentucky Farm Bureau Regional Teacher Workshops, New Ag Teacher Workshops, an FCS/FCCLA workshop, Lincoln and Fleming County workshops, and several virtual PD opportunities. Ready-to-use resources were distributed at each event.
Curriculum Development and Promotion
The Feeding Kentucky: An Agriculture Adventure presentation and companion worksheets were distributed to several schools and educators as part of the Kentucky Farm to School Challenge.
A curriculum page on food-based lessons was added to the TeachKyAg website for FCS teachers.
Many schools and teachers were provided chick-hatching guides and resources thanks to the Kentucky Poultry Federation.
The Kentucky Agriculture A to Z Coloring Book was updated and distributed at the Kentucky State Fair through a partnership with the Kentucky Department of Agriculture.
Thank you to all our 2023 sponsors and partners!
