There's a Pig in My Classroom - Virtual Field Trips and Curriculum

The Kentucky Agriculture and Environment in the Classroom and the Kentucky Pork Producers are working with LEAP (Leading Education About Pigs) and the Indiana State Fair to bring Kentucky classrooms a virtual field trip experience.

Grades: 3rd – 6th Grade
Duration: 45-minute virtual experience followed by a 50 - 90 minute lesson plan. You can select a date and time that works best for your class among a list of date options.

Hosted by the Indiana State Fairgrounds & Event Center and sponsored by the LEAP Foundation, There’s a Pig in My Classroom is a virtual program designed to teach students in grades 3-6 where and how pork gets to their plate.

Students will learn about how pigs are raised on the farm, production terminology, and purchasing pork in the grocery store. (Life Sciences, Consumerism, Careers)

We can accommodate your classes whether you meet in person, virtually, or as a hybrid model.

Teacher Testimonials

“We have really enjoyed your field trips this year! Leaps and bounds better than some that we have viewed!”

“My class loved this experience! The presenters were very knowledgeable and made the information interesting and engaging for my students. My students were full of questions even after the presentation ended and would love to do more similar types of virtual trips in the future.”

“The program was very unique and unlike anything my students had seen before. I almost preferred it to an in person field trip. The experience was fulfilling because it was live, rather than just showing a recorded video and I loved how instead of just telling, they actually showed.”

“I absolutely loved this program for my students. For most of my students they have never seen a pig in person. This was information that they would likely have never learned if it weren’t for this experience.”
