The theme for the contest was “Kentucky Farms: Growing Solutions for a Growing World.” Each winner received a $100 check from Kentucky Agriculture and Environment in the Classroom (KyAEC), a meal featuring foods from Kentucky Proud producers, and tickets to the Lexington Legends baseball game against the Greenville (South Carolina) Drive.

Read MoreTo date, 223 Teach Ky Ag resource kits have been distributed to teachers and farm educators across the commonwealth, and at least 30 more teaching kits have been reserved. The goal of this program is to allow local businesses, organizations and individuals to support agricultural literacy in their communities by providing standards-aligned resources with a connection to food and fiber production.
For the fourth year in a row, we visited Fleming County for Agriculture Education and Advocacy Week, several days of events and programs for teachers and students. I am amazed at how many opportunities Adam and his team can provide the education community to foster an appreciation of our farming community. And it gets bigger every year.
