“Bringing Ag into the classroom at the Elementary level has been successful for students. The students have enjoyed learning how the food they eat is grown and learning more about agriculture in general. Students love the hands-on activities and contests as well.”
Gallatin County Farms
Steeple View Farm
Marc and Harriet Carey are childhood sweethearts and the proud owners of Steeple View Farm, their “little slice of heaven.”
For 35 years Steeple View has been a homestead to the Carey family, a farm where they grow all their own food. It is as close to living off of the land as you can get. Steeple View produces fresh produce (fruits and vegetables), poultry, beef, honey, and eggs.
They sell through their Community Supported Agriculture program, and they also turn it into gourmet food products which they sell online.
Steeple View Farm wants people to know how their food is raised so they offer educational events and open their land for camping, hiking, and fishing.
Jones Brothers Farm
Taylor and Zac Jones, of Jones Brothers Farms in Warsaw, started farming at a young age, when their grandfather gave them two rows of his garden plot. Now they grow a whole host of crops on their farm: tobacco, tomatoes, watermelon, sweet corn, pumpkins, alfalfa hay, hemp and beef. The tomato business is their “bread and butter.” They grew their first commercial tomato crop while they were in college, and their success encouraged them to grow their farm business. www.jonesbrothersfarm.com
